How a File Moves

Our Process

What City First does with a loan file, and what we do not claim.

Three Ideas Run Through a File

Three ideas run through a City First file.

  1. 01

    The Step You Are On

You can see the step you are on, and you can ask what happens next.

  2. 02

    What We Need From You

You can see what we need from you, including which document is still open.

  3. 03

    What a Word Means

You can ask what a word means. Estimates on this site stay estimates.

What You Can Expect to See

A file usually moves through three stretches.

  1. 1

A man in a white shirt explaining something to two people seated across from him.

    Pre-Approval

Looks at income, savings, and credit before a contract, if you want that step.

  2. 2

A man in a light blue jacket seated at a conference table, with coworkers talking behind him.

    Underwriting

Reads the home, the appraisal, and the documents after there is a contract.

  3. 3

A family carrying boxes through an open doorway into a living room.

    Closing

The day you review the final numbers and sign.

A Common Range

A purchase often takes about a month to six weeks after a contract.

Timing depends on the home, the documents, and the review. That is a common range, not a guarantee.

Estimates Stay Estimates

What We Do

  • Explain the steps in clear, everyday language before you sign anything
  • Tell you which records we need, and why
  • Introduce a loan officer who is licensed where the home is
  • Show estimates as estimates, with the assumptions next to them
  • Point you to the secure application when it is time to apply

What We Don't

  • Promise an approval, a rate, or a closing date
  • Ask for a Social Security number on this marketing site
  • Pretend a calculator result is a loan offer
  • Talk about another lender's customers
  • Hide the company license or the equal housing statement

A Real Conversation

Ready When You Are.

Talk with a loan officer who is licensed where the home is. Walk through buying, refinancing, or a loan that does not fit a standard file. Start with the directory, or answer a few questions first.
